Bessie’s Secret

Bessie’s got a secret in her room. Just a little something that the sea air makes her do. Just a thing that lover’s do. She looks just like another Lady Muck. But underneath she’s happy because she just don’t give a fuck. Now the sea don’t look so blue. Living off just oxygen, feeding on the residue. Memories of a big taboo, doing things that lovers do. Dressing up and teasing. Bessie whispers ‘Please just come up here and see me’. Makes me uneasy. Bessie’s got devices in her room. Just a little something that can make her dreams come true. Make the sky turn back to blue.

Wonderful Thing

I got lucky, I thought that it would never happen to me. Things I said would never happen, have happened to me. Things I thought were meant for better men than I. Can’t you see I’m just lucky as, lucky as a man can be. Now I’ve got it, I’ve got to leave it all behind. Now I’ve done it, I’ve got to go and do some time. You’ve got pretty eyes, colours that I just can’t describe, I know I know. You’ve got everything that money cannot buy but I’ve just got to lie, the price is too high. It’s a wonderful thing, but I’ve got to leave and it’s killing me holding this picture of you. It’s a terrible thing, it’s eating me slowly. It’s telling me you’re such a wonderful thing. Yeah it’s telling me you’re such a wonderful wonderful thing. You’ve got pretty eyes, colours that I just can’t describe, I know I know. You’ve got everything that money cannot buy but I’ve just got to lie – the price is too high.

Electric Towers

Where did you go? Wandering round for hours. Well it’s all right now. Let’s sit down and let’s try and work it out. Over the bridge and past the electric towers. That’s a long long way but at least now we’ve something to say. You can have all my time, time that you need to find, how to destroy that padlock on your mind. You’ve got it on, you’ve got it all, so don’t you tell me that I’m wrong when I can wait this long. I’m in your sights, your gun is loaded so don’t tell me that it’s all over now, when I’ve only just begun to work it out. What did I say to casually kill these flowers? Painting the sky so grey. Well maybe it’s better this way.

They’ve Got Tanks and Everything

These aren’t the men I thought would be here today. This doesn’t look quite right. This is not ok. So I run and I run and I run all the way back home. Six or seven shadows that don’t want to leave me alone. Got to get myself back home but there’s a question mark, a hole in the road. Got to be a way you know so I run and I run and I run all the way back home. They’ve got some of those machines with wings. They’ve got tanks and everything. You just can’t help but admire the fear. Personally, I’m out of here. Talking too fast, hand on my neck, gun in my back, running out of gas.

Where I Once Was

I can see the daylight trying to get through and when I watch it, it takes me back to you. I feel the goodness in everything I’ve lost. I want to be there right where I once was. Come on back, I’ll let you in. You make me feel like I should be in heaven. Come on in and touch my hand. You make me feel like I should be in heaven. I could close the curtain and shut out all the light but you’d still shine through be it day be it night. I feel the goodness in everything I’ve lost. I want to be there right where I once was. Oh you make me feel like I’m in heaven. Come on back, I’ll let you in.

Someone Just Took Our Babies

I’m in a fix, I can’t believe what I’ve just seen in a magazine. It really can’t be so, no! I’m in a daze, I can’t believe what I’ve just seen on a TV screen. These slaughtering dogs.It really can’t be so, no! All these babies are falling. Babies falling down the well. And they load another baby on the black conveyor belt. Though these babies are branded with a number on the skin, it’s just a ticket to the next life. It’s much safer there so come on let them in. Man in a suit watching the clock. Ten minutes more then his head’s on the block. It really can’t be so, no! Babies live and learn to walk and recognise and then they talk. With reasoning they could have grown beyond the bonds of skin and bone. They’ve all been taken away. They’ve taken our babies away.

Respond

You sit there like a lizard weighing up the food. Waiting for the moment to arrive. But the moment is upon us and still you hardly breathe and I want to know if you are still alive. I light a match before you and bring it to your face, illuminate the windows to your soul. I don’t see no reflection in the windows to your soul. To break your concentration I smash the window through. It shattered in a hundred pieces. You can see but you can’t respond. There’s a shell but the soul has all gone. If you want it, you can touch it. Let your fingers do the walking. But you can’t have it if you won’t let me in.

The Diplomat

Now you’ve got his full attention. You forgot to even mention all the precious things you left behind. Is it time for intervention? Don’t you want the aggravation? Don’t you think it’s time you crossed that line? Everything requires a negotiation. You should have got a job at the United Nations. Everything requires some consideration. He’s got a big old dirty foul mouth so get him in and sort him out now. Let’s get the precious things you left behind. He’s got achilles heel somewhere now. It’s up to you to find it somehow. Now I think it’s time you crossed that line? Everything requires a negotiation. You should have got a job at the United Nations. Everything requires some consideration.

Journey Through The Slugs

Well I used to walk with you, a mile and a third and I was blue. That treacherous journey through the slugs and the bugs and the rain. And we’re treading in the mud again, I should have worn those corduroys today. Better still I should have told you I’m head to toe in creosote. Oh you know how much I care, I’d do anything you say. Oh you know I’d love to come around and sort you out today. Well it’s such a long time ago, I just don’t know which way to go, till I find me a little bug. Take this journey, journey through the slugs.

Murder in the Garden

Darling, you know I love you, but there’s something I think you should know, about the boy you fell in love with. Well I killed him and watched his garden grow. Every night that we spend together, every day that we are apart, I attempt to murder my demons, but you know I’m finding it so hard. And darling I know you miss him, but we’ve everything to live for today. Every time I look at the pictures of the love, we were so bright. And the light, it’s still there within us, so you know it’s going to be alright. Because I’m going to find resurrection, I’m going to do it right. I’m going in for correction as long as these demons don’t come in for a fight, I don’t want to fight. Darling, you know I love you, but there’s something you’ve got to do for me. Tell me how I got into this body. Tell me where I left my better soul. Every time I look at the pictures of the love, we were so bright. And the light, it’s still there within us so you know it’s going to be alright.
