Heifervescent has evolved quite a bit over the years. The softer side of 'Fake Your Art and Die' to the creepy 'The House That Leaves You Always Wanting More!' Many different sounds are utilized instead of sticking with a tried and trued Heifervescent sound. Keep going guys, you have this DJ hooked!

Seems to be a slight change in direction. Don't get me wrong, I love "The Glue Factory", but it did take multiple listens to fully appreciate it. I'm a little more than half way though "Further Adventures in Monkeyland" and ever since the first note of the first song it has been immediately accessible and a pleasure to listen to. Because I love Heifervesent, this album will also receive multiple listens, and I'm sure it will become even more great. Keep up the great work. There is nothing like a song that can make you see the world the way the artist does. Some of the things this album hints at are deep, scandalous, even political. It has been a nice surprise for me to discover this group Heifervescent. Although I like more other musical styles, I have been caught by the excellent quality of the music, the voice and the arrangements. I think several of the albums could be easily hits if properly promoted. The only minor drawback I've found is that sometimes there are sudden changes of rythm and/or kind of melody that sometimes cause a distracting effect (in other cases it feels right). With my own footage of several sparrows fighting and feeding their babies and an edited mix of several of your songs, I have made a Youtube video. Please, if you have time, visit: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IzwSAH0_DlY I hope you enjoyed it! Best regards and thank you for the gift of your excellent music. David Bluecame.

The album starts with a uniquely styled funky pop track featuring wah-pedalled guitars and a quirky synthesizer riff. In general this is the most upbeat pop release by Heifervescent out of the four currently available, and it's a very enjoyable listen. I love the real-life lyrics on the last track about being glad to have a friend who is not so easily carried away by music. Highly talented performance and production.

This album is the most laid back of the three Heifervescent albums I have listened to so far, though still including a variety of upbeat and more somber tracks. I've said this before, but the arrangement of synthesizers is both creative yet professional sounding (it's very easy to miss the mark in that regard). It's a good pop sound, but overall the songs are not as memorable as those on my favourite Heifervescent album, PondLife Fiasco.

(About Verbal Bandit)

2009-02-24

This album is comprised of enjoyable pop rock songs, though arguably more inconsistent than their PondLife Fiasco release. The songs vary from very light and soothing to upbeat rock, a good example of the latter is track four with a powerful distorted bass guitar. As with PondLife Fiasco I love the use of smooth synthesizer pad sounds, especially as a lift in choruses, which acts as a distinction between more drab pop arrangements of the nineties.

(About Murder in the Garden)

2009-02-24

The more I listen to the album, the more it grows on me. There's a lot of talent, whether instrumentally, vocally, compostion-ally or production-ally (excuse my writing). From the first riff I can hear a Beatles influence, though I'd primarily label the album Britpop (Echo & The Bunnymen style?) with the lovely twist that accompaniment which would usually be arranged for an orchestra is played on synthesizer. The vocals have a hint of Lennon, Morrissey (or Cass McCombs) and maybe even Ian Brown? The vocalist is no copy cat though, it's a very natural performance. Don't be put off by the simplicity of the first track, the bridge is well writ, as is the rest of the album. Try track six, 'It's Coming Together, or two, Deep Sea Diver, to receive a taste of how lovely this pop album is.
